This report (Reporter Liu Yiding) Yesterday, the office of Shenzhou Prison in Hebei Province confirmed that there was a prison break by inmates on September 11th, but did not disclose the number of escapees. As of last night, the police are still actively pursuing the escaped prisoners.
The prison where the incident occurred is located near Gaoguzhuang Village in Shenzhou City, Hengshui, Hebei Province, and is also known as the third prison in Hebei Province. The prison is mainly responsible for the custody and rehabilitation of serious criminals.
Armed Police in Hengshui District Inspecting#
According to a villager in Gaoguzhuang Village, on the morning of September 11th, there was a sudden presence of heavily armed police at the periphery of the prison and at traffic intersections. At the same time, there were also armed police inspecting passing vehicles at various intersections in Hengshui City and its surrounding areas. The villagers heard that it was because a prisoner had escaped.
Mr. Li, who was on a business trip passing through Hengshui, said that multiple checkpoints were set up along the S231 highway in the Shenzhou section, and armed police officers could be seen every few tens of meters. He was checked three times during his round trip on the highway, including the trunk of his car.
The aforementioned villager in Gaoguzhuang Village said that the escape likely occurred around 4 am, possibly because the escapee knew the shift change time for the armed police.
The villager said that the corn has not been harvested yet, making it easier for the escapee to hide.
Prison Does Not Disclose Number of Escapees#
There are multiple versions of rumors about this prison break incident online. Last night, the staff on duty at the Shenzhou Prison office confirmed over the phone that there was indeed a prison break by inmates and that they are currently making every effort to apprehend them.
The staff did not disclose the number of escapees or other specific details, but they denied that any prison guards were injured or killed in the prison break case.
