Dongguan News: A man with only a junior high school education in Chang'an Town, Dongguan, deceived and coerced women into having sexual relationships with him under the pretext of helping female students "overcome" psychological barriers. He took advantage of the opportunity to conduct beauty product marketing training and raped 9 female students.
Recently, the man named Lu Yu'an was sentenced to 11 years in prison by the Second People's Court of Dongguan. It is reported that the case will be retried soon.
This is not the first time an incident involving a "beastly training tutor" has occurred. Some industry insiders pointed out that female students are easily deceived, which is related to their mentality of seeking quick success.
The "beastly" training instructor claimed that only by "overcoming" can one improve their skills.
According to the Dongguan People's Procuratorate, Lu Yu'an, 45 years old, with only a junior high school education, used to be a distributor for a beauty product franchise and sold products directly.
Starting from August 2009, Lu Yu'an independently organized beauty product marketing training classes in other places and in Chang'an Town, Dongguan. During the training, Lu Yu'an used the excuse of helping female students "overcome psychological barriers" to call them into his room for private interaction. He claimed that they had to undress in front of him and even have sexual relationships with him in order to "overcome" the fear of communicating with strangers and improve their marketing skills.
Lu Yu'an used similar methods to have sexual relationships with 9 victims, including Ma Moumei. The crimes were committed mainly in a beauty salon in Xianxi Community, Chang'an Town, and sometimes in Lu Yu'an's rented house. Lu Yu'an also took naked photos of 3 victims with his mobile phone, using them as blackmail to commit subsequent acts of rape. What's even more outrageous is that one of the victims' husbands was also attending the same training class, and Lu Yu'an did not spare her either.
According to the testimonies of multiple victims, Lu Yu'an always claimed during the crimes that he did not want their bodies, but wanted to help them "overcome" and "build their courage." After the incidents, Lu Yu'an told them not to tell anyone, saying that everyone's "overcoming" method was different and there was no need to compare. Many victims also admitted that they did not speak out because they were afraid it would affect their reputation.
First Trial Verdict: Training Instructor Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison
On December 1, 2009, at around 2 am, the victims, including Zeng Mouqiu, realized what had happened and reported it to the police. The police arrested Lu Yu'an near Jinbao Factory in Shatou Community, Chang'an, and seized his mobile phone containing nude photos of the victims.
During the court trial, Lu Yu'an claimed that the victims willingly had sexual relationships with him. The court did not accept his defense. After reviewing the case, the Second People's Court of Dongguan believed that Lu Yu'an violated the will of the women and used deception and coercion to have sexual relationships with multiple women, constituting the crime of rape. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison and deprived of political rights for 1 year.
Such "Overcoming": "Scolding" Male Students, "Sleeping" with Female Students
During the trial, Lu Yu'an stated that the main purpose of the training class he organized was to guide students on how to approach strangers and promote products.
After a day of study, Lu Yu'an would summarize and make a list of students who needed to "overcome." The "team leader" of the training class would take one student who needed to "overcome" to a beauty salon for the "overcoming" process.
The methods of "overcoming" for male and female students naturally differed. The "overcoming" method for male students mainly involved continuous scolding. Lu Yu'an would scold male students for lacking the courage to speak to strangers, not being able to earn money to support their families, and even being worthless.
For female students, it was different. The "overcoming" process for female students consisted of three steps: first, wearing a revealing outfit in front of Lu Yu'an; second, undressing in front of him; and finally, having sexual relationships with him.
A male student from the training class testified that Lu Yu'an openly stated during class that if a student was afraid to speak to strangers, they would have to go to his place for "overcoming," and the method of "overcoming" was to "sleep."
In addition to having sexual relationships with female students, Lu Yu'an also required students to purchase books and DVDs to earn money. According to his confession, he earned a total of 7,000 to 8,000 yuan from three training sessions.
Be Vigilant: Check the Qualifications of Training Institutions Before Enrolling
Industry insiders and prosecutors handling this case suggest that before enrolling in a training program, one should first check the qualifications of the training institution and whether they have licenses issued by the national departments of industry and commerce, labor, etc. Yu Jia, a national vocational guidance instructor, suggests that prospective students should try to visit former students of the training institutions they are considering to gain a comprehensive understanding of these institutions and avoid being deceived. Xu Bin, the manager of Dongguan Zhitong Talent Training Center, also advises students to avoid being alone with teachers.
Exploring the Causes: Female Students Lack Good Career Planning
From Song Shanmu to Huang Bo, and now Lu Yu'an, why have similar cases of sexual assault occurred frequently in vocational training institutions?
Yu Jia, a national vocational guidance instructor at Houjie Human Resources Market, believes that "many young girls nowadays are impetuous and eager for quick success, but they generally lack good career planning. These 'beastly training instructors' seize upon the mentality of female students, catering to their desires, which is why such incidents occur."
He called on government departments to further strengthen the regulation of the training institution industry, eliminate these harmful and deceptive training institutions, and purify the environment of the entire training institution industry.
